Who:
Karith Foster and Adam Lehman. Two comedians: one Black, one gay who are putting a face on the issues of homophobia and racism. Our personal experiences have given us the material to address these issues with humor, wit, and candor.
What: A 90-minute presentation consisting of comedy, testimonials, and a Q&A session that will address not only our personal experiences, but examples from current news stories. Through our humor we will offer a very raw perspective of the reality of homophobia and racism and we will provide active ways to promote self-acceptance and tolerance of others while combating discrimination and ignorance.
When: Starting right now- when it’s needed more than ever considering our current climate of tolerance- or rather lack thereof. It is never too late to share our message of acceptance.
Where: Colleges, Universities and Corporations across America. Establishments of higher education are ground zero for individuals who are in their most formative years of adulthood.
Why: Now more than ever people are living and operating out of fear. Fear based on misconceptions i.e. stereotypes, fear of the unfamiliar and fear of the unknown. Fear in all of its forms is the antithesis of love. It is human nature to fear the unknown, but it is also in our nature to love one another. If that fear can be dissolved, then the chains of ignorance can be broken and light can be shed on the reality that we are all valuable members of society; then we are one step closer to achieving not only higher levels of consciousness but fulfilling our divine potential as human beings.
How: Decidedly one of the best ways to reach people is through humor. Because our mission is about education not condemnation we utilize our comedic skills by sharing examples, stories and ideas and by addressing head-on the stereotypes we’ve been given and how we defy them.
